I Am With You
Before Jesus was born, the angel declared that the Savior is “Emmanuel, which means, God is with us.”
Now, as Jesus ascends, he says, “I am with you always, until the end of the age.”
He is with us, always.

These Things
“You are witnesses of these things?”
What are the things that Jesus is referring to?
Earlier, Jesus summarized his life, as given in Scriptures, “It is written that the Christ would suffer and rise from the dead on the third day and that repentance, for the forgiveness of sins.”
Therefore,
Jesus commissions the disciples to witness to God’s love in giving humanity God’s
only Son, who died but rose “for the forgiveness of sins.”
Jesus had also revealed God’s great love in his compassion to sinners, outcasts of society, in his teaching of God’s mercy.
Consequently, the disciples are witnesses of God’s love and forgiveness when they live God’s compassion and mercy that they have seen in the life, action, teaching, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The Ascension of the Lord (Mary 16, 2021)
Jesus is With Us
Jesus told the disciples, “Go.”
At that command, “they went forth and preached everywhere.”
The Gospel of Mark was written sometime after that, recording the experiences of the disciples and the early Church. It testifies, “the Lord worked with them and confirmed the word through accompanying signs.”
To us today the Lord commands, “Go.”
Let us continue the mission with the same knowledge and trust that the Lord works with us and accompanies us.

Ascension of the Lord (May 24, 2020)
It’s Not Us. It’s Jesus.
“The eleven
disciples went to Galilee.”
There used
to be twelve of them. We know why there
are eleven now. We know what one of them,
Judas, did. We also know what these
eleven disciples did after Jesus’ arrest, during his trial and
crucifixion. Even now, they still have
their doubts.
Jesus
commanded these eleven to continue his mission.
Now, Jesus
commands us to do the same.
We, as individual
disciples and as a community of believers, are not perfect.
It is not
about us.
It is Jesus
who came in the name of the Father. It
is Jesus who now has “all power in heaven and on earth.” It is Jesus who says, “I am with you always.”
It is
this Jesus who now commands us to continue his mission to make disciples and baptize all nations.

Ascension of the Lord - B (May 13, 2018)
Heaven
The
disciples witnessed Jesus “being taken up to heaven.” They knew that heaven was now also the
destination of their journey.
From then
on, they lived with a purpose. “They went
forth and preached everywhere.”
Celebrating
the Ascension of Jesus reminds me that my journey has the same destination –
heaven, and that my life has the same purpose – to preach the Gospel everywhere.

Words
Two are from what Jesus said to his disciples then
1.
“Go into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel to every
creature.”
2.
“In my name.”
and
3.
“They went forth and preached everywhere.”
Today,
Jesus continues to send us, his disciples
1. to go and carry out the
same mission – to proclaim the Gospel to every creature.
2. In
His name.
3. Everywhere.
