Jesus’ Nail Marks and Pierced Side
The Risen Jesus “showed [the
disciples] his hands and his side.”
He also helped Thomas to
recognize him by allowing Thomas to put his finger in the nail marks and his
hand into his pierced side.
The paschal candle, one of the
main symbols of the Resurrection has the five marks of Jesus’ wounds, front and
center, in the shape of a cross,
There is no Resurrection
without the Passion and the Cross.
And it is in the wounds of
Christ today, in his wounded brothers and sisters, that He is present to us, the
presence that brings peace.
