7th Sunday of Easter - C

Commentary

John 16: 20-26

God's Glory and Love

In this one short passage of the Gospel, we hear of God's love and glory.

In fact, these two qualities in certain sense is the same with God.

In the Gospel According to John, immediate after speaking these words, Jesus goes to the garden where he will be arrested. Then come the trial, passion, and crucifixion.

It is on the cross that Jesus reveals the depth of God's love.  "There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friends."

And that love is God's glory.
