Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ - C

Commentary

All We Have, and All We Need

Five loaves and two fish are all we have.”

And to feed at least five thousand people with that.

That is all we have.

But with Jesus, there was more than enough. “They all ate and were satisfy.”

The gestures of Jesus are unmistakenly Eucharistic: Jesus “taking the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, he said the blessing over them, broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the crowd.” [1]

What we have remains little and even insignifant. Yet, with Jesus who gives himself to all, there is plenty.

Jesus Christ continues to give himself to us and through us – for the salvation of the world.

The gift of self – united with Jesus – is all we need.
